Limited-Edition Pin Set

This limited-edition enamel pin set for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy centers around Scrap, the stuffed bear belonging to Caleb Mir. The collection features three pins inspired by the character’s childhood toy and the memories it represents throughout the series.

For this set, I illustrated the bear pin, translating the prop into a simplified, chibi-inspired design suitable for enamel production. The goal was to preserve the charm and worn sentimentality of a beloved stuffed animal while refining the shapes so the character remained expressive and recognizable at a small collectible scale.

Early sketches explored different proportions and personality before the final design was refined for production. Seeing the pin launch for pre-sale while following the series week by week has been a surreal experience—especially as audiences continue to learn more about Scrap and its significance in Caleb Mir’s story.

Star Trek™: Voyager
Seven of Nine Limited-Edition Pin Set

Star Trek’s newest limited-edition pin collection features motifs of Seven of Nine, her ocular implant and compression phaser rifle. Consulting collaboratively with Art Director Kenneth Martinez, I was able to design the rifle and implant, bringing a few iconic pieces of Seven of Nine’s story to life. This pin set pays tribute to her brilliance, featuring three exclusive enamel pins that chart her evolution aboard the U.S.S. Voyager.

One of the key creative challenges was simplifying such complex, iconic shapes into an expressive chibi-inspired style while still keeping them instantly recognizable—and exciting for dedicated Star Trek fans. Seeing the final pins produced was incredibly exciting, serving as a fun and meaningful reminder of how design translates from concept to collectible. This project has sparked my interest in exploring more product design work in the future.
